Musings on Art is an educational resource for both artists and art collectors. We provide articles and videos on individual artists and art movements, which provide unique insights to the art world. We are also a resource on various art processes, how to evaluate artwork and art reviews from around the world. Most of our articles and videos are written by professional working artists and dealers, which gives our readers an insider’s point-of-view.
In addition to our educational mission, Musings on Art represents award-winning established artists from around the world, making their artwork available for sale online. We are a direct importer of Russian art from the Soviet Era offering the best of Soviet Realism, Russian Impressionism and the Leningrad School of Painting. We also have a large collection of limited edition and art prints of contemporary, as well as historical masters works.
Musings on Art was founded by artist and professor Cathy Locke. She holds two honorary degrees – a B.F.A. from Art Center College of Design in Pasadena and a M.F.A. from the Academy of Art University in San Francisco. Currently Cathy is a professor for the graduate department at the Academy of Art University. She has received nearly forty accolades for her work, including ones from the Pastel Society of America, Art Directors Club of New York, Society of Illustrators, the Pastel Journal and Campaign Papers. For nearly a decade Cathy traveled to Russia to learn about Russian art from numerous experts.
