Russian artist Alexander Mikhailovich Semionov (1922-1984) was admitted to the Leningrad branch of Union of Artists of Russian Federation in 1957. Semionov's paintings are distinguished by finesse plein air, bright saturated colors and accurate transfer of tonal relationships. Generalized drawing with a brush along with the active use of palette knife create various textures and allow the artist to achieve unity. By the 1970s Semionov was regarded as a leader in Russian cityscape painting. Semionov's has had exhibitions in Japan, France, Italy, UK and USA.
